How do you choose essential oils from your star sign? Well, from an Astrological point of view, each star sign has a "signature essential oil" - the signature oil is the oil that is most related to your Sun, your Moon sign, and/or your Ascendant signs. A great way to start is to choose the oil relating to your Sun sign - the day of your birthday. So how the heck does all this work?
My sun sign is Aries ♈and my signature essential oil is Rosemary. Rosemary is part of the herby and leafie families of essential oils - so essential oils made from mostly herb plants and essential oils made from the leaves and sometimes twigs and stems of the plant. This way of grouping essential oils is called Aroma-Genera (created by Valerie Ann Worwood) and I love to group essential oils this way.
So if I was new to essential oils or wanted to try essential oils based on my starsign I would start with Rosemary. Being an Aries means I’m quite an action-orientated person and Aries is a fire sign. Although I am rather a powerhouse of action most of the time, I find I do fizzle out before I’ve completed projects or tasks before I’ve finished them, this is where Rosemary is my BFF, this warming herb seems to stimulate my mind and body helping me to keep my focus sharp and my energy reserves more on an even keel. I also find Rosemary helps with head tension and overwhelm which I find I can succumb too, I have to remember, to do one thing at a time and not to let my impatient self take charge and try to do a million things at once.
Next I would look at some of the other essential oils I am drawn to from the same family of oils so any oils from the herbie family and or leafie which Rosemary is a part of.

Cinnamon, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Firs, Patchouli, Pettigrain, Pine,TeaTree
Some more Herbie Oils:
Melissa, Basil, Clary Sage, Geranium, Marjoram, Peppermint, Spearmint, Oregano, Sage, Thyme, Yarrow
Add one drop of each oil you have or each oil you are drawn to purchase and add to your blend and either make a small bottle to smell - sit it on your desk or have it open by your bed. When I purchase a new oil or make a new blend up I love to just have it sitting near me, so I can get to know it and get a feel for it. Or you could make up a roller bottle with as many oils as you want to and try your creation as a roller “purefume”, or add to your diffuser.
This is a super interesting way of using and discovering essential oils, Valerie Ann Worwood’s book The Fragrant Mind goes deeper into Aroma-Genera her work is amazing going into the personalities of the oils and then correlating the personalities of the oils with the personality of the person, I absolutely love the way Valerie writes and I think I have ALL of her Aromatherapy books which I refer to and pour over for hours!!
